The site has been on line since 1998. In 2002 animated backgrounds were added. There are now over 200 images on the site.

Art By Will features the work of William George Bashford. The name of the site was decided on after studying Schopenhauer. In his philosophy the Will consitutes the inner nature of reality, and art, like everything else, is created by a single metaphysical principle, a blind striving, to which individuation is alien. I liked the play on words.
